Join the Walk
There are several ways to participate in the Walk Across America, from
assisting with lodging or transportation, to hosting a local prayer walk in
your community, or hitting the trail yourself. Read about some of the
specifics ways you can help, and if you'd like to give them a try, please
Contact Jim
to discuss the details:

Lodging: |
As the trail leads westward, Jim and Nadine have begun taking extended trips to cover several days of the trail at a time. They
often stay in local motels, but also enjoy staying with local church members who open their homes. This helps to relieve the financial burden of the trip, and provides Jim and Nadine with an opportunity to learn more about the local community as they fellowship with local residents.
|
|
Transportation: |
On hiking days, Nadine drops Jim off at the starting point on the
trail and meets him at the end of the day. When she can't make the trip, Jim needs a local volunteer to help with this. |
|
Walk the Trail:
|
Walking partners along the trail are always appreciated, whether
you accompany Jim on one of his walks or take on a section of
trail on your own. |
|
Host a Local Prayer Walk:
|
Invite Jim and Nadine to visit your church and lead you on a
local prayer walk to pray for your own community, or lead
one yourself using the suggestions below to guide you.

What to Do On a Prayer Walk:
-
Take your Time. Enjoy
God's creation. This is not a "power walk", but intercession.
-
Be sure to listen
and look while you are praying. Sometimes in our
prayer lives, we spend so much time talking to God that we fail
to listen... remember, prayer is a two-way conversation.
In fact, you may spend the bulk of your time just listening for
God's heart, discerning how to pray, and seeking
opportunities to connect with others along the trail.
-
If you are visiting a
new community, learn as much about it as you can. Know the
concerns and needs you are praying for.
-
Ask the Lord to give
you a burden for the area you are walking. Stop and pray for
specific needs as the Lord directs.
-
Be encouraged to
fellowship with anyone you meet along the trail. Don't worry
about being too pushy... just be prayerful, make eye contact and
smile, and others will often initiate the conversation for you.
Tell them what you are doing and why, and ask how you can pray
for them.
-
Tell members of your
group to spread out (not more than 4 to a group) rather than
travel in one big pack. Groups can be very intimidating and will
prevent you from connecting with others. You can also cover more
ground if you split up in different directions and meet up again
at a designated location.
-
When you meet up again
with your group after the walk, share your observations about
the areas each has visited and the things the Lord has impressed
upon you. Pray as a group for
these needs, and continue to pray in the coming weeks and months.
Ideally, most of the prayer happens after the walking is
over.
-
Please send us a note about your experience, including any
praise reports, testimonies, and on-going prayer requests.
